The Pro Wrestling Studies Association (PWSA) is an international network of academics, researchers, and practitioners with a mission to advance the standard of discourse surrounding professional wrestling by critically exploring, and directly engaging with, the various subject areas related. These knowledge areas include but are not limited to:

  • Social commentary

  • Business practice

  • Narrative storytelling, psychology

  • Marketing, community engagement

  • Politics, international relations

  • art or cultural forms 

  • Fandom, identity formation, intersectionality

Through annual symposiums, regular scholarly journal publications, active social engagement, and a presence at live events and professional arenas, the PWSA is dedicated to uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to the critical examination of professional wrestling as a multifaceted cultural phenomenon. We strive to elevate the visibility of professional wrestling scholarship across academic, media, fan, and industry spaces—ensuring the field is taken seriously and recognized for its cultural significance. By bridging scholars, professionals, and fans, we foster a vibrant community devoted to the learned appraisal of every aspect of professional wrestling.

Dr. Tunisha Singleton is a media psychologist and engagement architect who transforms audience behavior into brand breakthroughs. With a Ph.D. in Media Psychology and 15+ years of blended experience, she brings a rare blend of science, strategy, and swagger to the world of sports, entertainment, and digital media.
Her bold, insight-driven approach has powered major campaigns for the Peabody Awards, Warner Media, Games for Change, and the NHL. As a recognized authority in fandom and consumer behavior, Dr. T has been featured in prestigious publications such as Vogue, New Humanist, Covers, and The Athletic, highlighting her expertise in messaging strategy and audience engagement. She’s also the creator of the FanX360™ Model and founder of FanX Unlimited, a next-gen consultancy reshaping how brands connect with their communities.
As Board President of the Black Girl Hockey Club (BGHC), a non-profit dedicated to empowering Black women on and off the ice in hockey, and President of Pro Wrestling Studies Association (PWSA), a community of academic scholars and applied practitioners advancing the critical study and thought surrounding pro wrestling, Dr. T was also distinguishably honored as a Salzburg Global Fellow in 2024 for her continuation of fostering the exchange of new ideas and best practices worldwide. Dr. T also teaches at UNLV, Howard University, and Fielding Graduate University. Whether she’s on stage or behind the scenes, she delivers fan-first strategy with fearless energy, cultural fluency, and a no-BS mindset that moves audiences and markets alike.

Gwen Lombard received her BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maine at Farmington, and has been a pro wrestling fan nearly her whole life. During her previous experience as a co-editor for the literary anthology The River, she maintained weekly posts recapping the week’s happenings in the wrestling industry.
